LANDesk

What is LANDesk?

LANDesk is a remote desktop management solution which will allow our technical support staff to remotely perform a variety of support and service tasks for those desktops connected to the main campus LAN. These support tasks include:

  • Keeping up with security patches and virus updates
  • Automatically detecting & removing spyware
  • Diagnosing and fixing system problems
  • Performing helpdesk support through secure remote assistance features
  • Maintaining hardware and software inventory information
LANDesk Security Suite will improve the security and reliability of desktop computers in addition to increasing the efficiency and responsiveness of IT support staff. LANDesk will also allow IT support staff to expand its scope of services without the need for additional full- or part-time staff.

To run agent-less inventory and vulnerability scans: (Copy & Paste the following at Start/Run or the DOS prompt)
  • Vulnerability Scan

\\jasper\ldlogon\VULSCAN.EXE /showui=false /Norepair=all /AGENTBEHAVIOR=26 /CORESERVER=JASPER

  • Inventory Scan

\\jasper\ldlogon\LDIScn32.exe /NTT=JASPER:5007 /S=JASPER /I=HTTP://JASPER/ldlogon/ldappl3.ldz /NOUI /W=3600

To install the LANDesk agent:

  • Join a trusted domain and verify that the MSU\Domain Admins group is in the local Administrators group.
  • Install the LANDesk agent by running this package: LANDeskAgent_with_status.exe
    • NOTE: On Vista, you need to right-click on the package and select "Run as Administrator"
  • A reboot is recommended after installation is complete.

If you are having trouble with this page...you probably can't read this and any contact information I put here would be useless.
