  Microsoft Campus Agreement

Departments on campus have the opportunity to participate in the Microsoft Campus Agreement.  This program provides a way to acquire annual licenses for the use of specific Microsoft software products on all computers within a department based on the number of FTE in the Department.  The annual enrollment window for the Microsoft Campus Agreement is approximately February 15 to March 1, depending on negotiations with software suppliers.

The annual Microsoft Campus Agreement licenses the use of select Microsoft programs for the year in which a department enrolls, based on an annual fee computed using the FTE count in the department, rather than the number of computers in the department.  The Campus Agreement provides the right to use the most current versions of the listed products, as well as previous versions, without having to pay any additional upgrade fees for a one-year term. This can be economically beneficial for departments that have a greater number of computers than FTE (particularly departments who manage labs of computers for student use) and for those departments that wish to have continual access to the most current versions of the included products. The Campus Agreement also provides an easy method to ensure legal compliance with Microsoft’s licensing requirements for these products.  Should a department that has been enrolled for licensing under the Campus Agreement decide not to enroll in a subsequent year the software installed under the Campus Agreement must be removed from the computers on which it was installed.
