McAfee Anti-Virus installation instructions for Staff and Faculty.

CD

The old tried and true method is to come down to the ITC Computer Store and request a CD.

Start/Run

Starting in December of 2005 a McAfee license is free to MSU Bozeman faculty and staff for University owned computers. If you are installing McAfee VirusScan 8.7i and you are a member of a trusted domain you will have access to the files on the Software file server at \\software\msuapps\mcafee\VirusScan8.7i . For example to run the VirusScan 8.7i setup for Windows XP, Vista, 2008, and Windows 7 you would click on Start then Run and enter \\software\msuapps\mcafee\VirusScan8.7i\SetupVSE.Exe as in the figure below.

Start Run

Map Network Drive

You can also map a network drive from the Windows Explorer under the Tools menu. Click Map Network Drive then simply choose the next available drive and put  \\software\msuapps\mcafee\VirusScan8.7i\  for VirusScan 8.7i in the path area.

Map Drive

If you are not a member of a domain you would right click on My Computer then Map Network Drive and select Connect using a different user name.

At the Connect As... dialog box enter the username and password as given to you by the ITC Computer Store as seen below.

Connect Using

Web

If you can’t get to the software with any of the aforementioned ways you can get there using a web browser. Go to the URL https://www.montana.edu/software/mcafeestaff/.  Follow the instructions on the web page.
