The ideal method for installing the McAfee software is to
have a CD or be able to map directly to the
share on the server. Ifthe only way you can get the software is from a zip file, you will want
to copy the zip file to a temporary directory such as C:\TEMP and extract the
files into that temporary directory before you run the Setup program. The ZIP
file is VSE80iLEN.zip for Windows 2000,
and Windows XP. You should uninstall
any previous versions of VirusScan before you install version 8.0i.
Once you have connected to a source for the software you
will then run the setup.exe file to install the software.
Once the software is installed you will want to configure
it. Then you will want to set it up for automatic scheduled updates.
