Updating McAfee version 4.5.1 to Service Pack 1.

Map to the Topaz share and run  VSC451S1.EXE

McAfee has released Service Pack 1 for VirusScan 4.5.1. It is available from \\topaz\mcafee\VSC451LENS1\VSC451S1.EXE
This Service Pack fixes quite a few problems with the original release. More information can be obtained from the readme.txt file located at \\topaz\mcafee\VSC451LENS1\readme.txt. To install this Service Pack, you must be running the English language release of the
corporate version of VirusScan 4.5.1. In addition, the Service Pack applies only to VirusScan components that are currently
installed, but not to components that are installed after installing the Service Pack.

Items of note with problems that we have experienced on campus include:
   -  Compatibility with the Microsoft Windows
XP operating system, except for its "fast
      user switching" feature.

   -  Increased protection of the VirusScan
      program files from potential security
      risks.

   -  Resolution of issues that became apparent
in the field. See "Resolved Issues" for a
description of these issues and their
      corrections.

Resolved Issues:
Issue:
When scanning a file or folder that
contained extended characters such as "ä
      ü ÿ ú È", the on-demand scanner would
occasionally not allow you to take an
action on the infected file. As a result,
you were required to manually remove the
      infected file.

    Resolution:
Replacement of SCAN32.EXE with a version
that allows action on files or folders
      containing the extended characters.

Issue:
      Previously installed "Freecell" and
"Solitaire" games might fail to function
after you perform a custom installation
that includes all of the VirusScan
      features.

    Resolution:
Replacement of WBHOOK32.DLL so that a
installation of VirusScan has no effect
on the ability of those games to
      function.
Issue:
VirusScan reported errors if it found the
following library files on your system:
            ESCAPI.DLL
            MCCOMM.DLL
            REGEMUL.DLL

These files were needed by previous
versions of VirusScan, and may still be
needed by other applications on your
system. VirusScan no longer needs them.

    Resolution:
Replacement of SCAN32.EXE so that it now
ignores the presence of those files on
      your system.

Issue:
The list of user-specified file types to
be scanned can accommodate only file name
extensions that do not exceed three
characters. As a result, users could not
include file types that use extensions of
      four or more characters.

    Resolution
      Replacement of VSHIELD.VXD and SCAN32.EXE
so that specification of the first three
characters of an extension is sufficient
to include a file type that uses four or
more characters. For example, by adding
HTM to the list of file types, HTML files
are included in on-access scanning and
      on-demand scanning.

Issue:
Some e-mail items were deleted from the
Outlook Express 5.x and Outlook Express
6x inbox because the mail program
      compacted its database before the
      VirusScan Download Scan or Internet
Filter module released the database file
      from scanning.

    Resolution:
Download Scan and Internet Filter now
      release the database file during
      compaction.

To check if your update was successful right click the VirusScan icon in the task bar at the lower right hand corner of your desktop and click About. You should see a figure similar to the one below with v4.5.1 SP1 at the top of the dialog box.
